Featuritis: the disease of the 21st century tech companies.
As Apple's iOS 18 has just been released, I cannot help but think of this concept.
Non-stop adding new features and tweaking otherwise well functioning ones, instead of focusing on real user needs and replacing less fancy but trusted ways of interacting with the product is what eventually starts a downward path.
As the co-founder of an e-learning platform, I've been struggling with this balance for 15 years. No second-guessing beats client feedback and observing real-time interaction with our interface.
And then lose your ego, and sometimes keeping the "old" stuff that works is just good enough.
